Back in 2002, Miss Cocoa’s was the first locally established coffee roasting house in Hervey Bay on the Fraser Coast, Queensland.  With the freshest roasted coffee beans and highly trained baristas, it quickly became the favourite iconic coffee destination for locals and travellers alike.

The first-ever designated freshly roasted coffee drive-thru in Hervey Bay was also opened by Miss Cocoa’s in 2019 on Boat Harbour Drive where it continues today.

Our History

Twenty years ago, the espresso and roasting industry was in its infancy. There were no more than a couple of coffee roasters in Queensland and the espresso market was just starting to evolve.

The first roasting cafe/drive-thru was opened by Jasen Barrie in 2002 on the Fraser Coast, outside of Maryborough. Apart from being the first roasting operation on the Fraser Coast, the business became an iconic destination for locals and travellers alike.

Jasen was the first roaster to roast and sell Single Origin coffees in Queensland. In 2019, Jasen opened Miss Cocoa’s, the first-ever designated coffee roastery ddrive-thru on Boat Harbour Drive. Jasen’s point of difference is his passion for coffee and roasting coffee – this is what sets him apart from the rest.

Roasting is an art! The weather, the bean, the seasons all play a part and have an effect on the quality of your desired caffeine beverage.

Jasen, has trained budding Barista’s for more than 20 years. Some Baristas started with no knowledge of espresso machines, let alone the art and skill on how to prepare beverages quickly and with quality.

We are looking for Baristas and Kitchen/front-of-house staff.

Miss Cocoa’s is a fast-paced work environment, with the best equipment and best practices.
For barista roles, no experience is necessary as we offer full training.
If you wish to apply for a barista role, you must be a fast learner, reliable, able to work on weekends and willing to bring your A-game to work every day.
If you would like to apply to become a kitchen staff member, experience in fast food, front counter and kitchen food service is preferable.

How our coffee beans are sourced is vital.

When most people think of roasted coffee, they imagine aromatic brown coffee beans that are granulated and brewed into their favourite delicious cup of coffee. This is true, however, there aren’t many like Miss Cocoa’s that take it a step further and begin with roasting the freshest green coffee beans onsite.

Just as Miss Cocoa’s fresh, green, leafy logo represents, our coffee beans don’t get much fresher. They arrive green from the best-producing origins, ready for specialty roasting at our coffee house here in Hervey Bay.

We source our freshly grown coffee beans from the green coffee experts, H.A. Bennetts, an independent, Australian family-owned business spanning three generations. With more than 100 years of global coffee trading experience, they care as much about sourcing the best green coffee as we care about roasting our coffee. We use fresh green coffee beans from Brazil and Papua New Guinea to create our unique specialty blends.
